New state-of-the-art classroom block for pupils at Bedford Academy.
Bedford Academy
Projects
Overview
The Bedford Academy expansion delivered a £12.5m two-storey teaching block to meet rising demand for school places. Procured through the SCAPE Regional Construction framework for Bedford Borough Council and delivered by Ashe Construction, the project created 16 classrooms, sports changing facilities, a dining area and a community café. Designed to achieve net-zero carbon in operation, the development enabled the school to grow to 1,800 pupils while providing flexible spaces for both students and the local community.
“This is about more than expanding a popular school with a Good rating from Ofsted. It is an opportunity to provide high-quality facilities for the entire community. Pupils have been at the heart of creating the vision for the new facilities, and we hope their legacy will be felt for generations to come.”
Chris Morris, Chief Officer for Education, SEND and Schools at Bedford Borough Council
