Starting on site in September 2006, G F Tomlinson delivered a scheme to construct a new major primary school, amalgamating three smaller schools in Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire.

Overview
The Candleby Lane Primary School was delivered under the former Nottinghamshire Construction framework, a predecessor to SCAPE’s East Midlands Property Alliance (empa), now known as the SCAPE Construction framework.
The school was designed for inclusivity, with additional investment in facilities to accommodate future SEN needs, including oversized classrooms, corridors and specialist KS1 spaces. Sustainable features included rainwater harvesting, a biomass boiler, wind turbines, and the maximisation of natural light and ventilation. The project won Best Sustainable Design at the East Midlands Local Authority Building Control Awards 2008 and was Highly Commended in the Best Educational Project category.
