As Covid-19 cases rose, a refurbishment project at Eastbourne General Hospital was rapidly adapted to create urgent bed capacity.
Delivered by Willmott Dixon through the SCAPE Construction framework, the £2 million project converted a former maternity ward into a 28-bed facility with new shower rooms, toilets, and medical gas installations. Moving from appointment to financial close in just four weeks, six beds were handed over early and the remaining 11 days ahead of schedule, demonstrating the speed, flexibility, and reliability of SCAPE frameworks in unprecedented circumstances.
