The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service launched a public survey to help shape the future of emergency services.
With nearly half of Scotland’s fire stations in poor condition and many lacking basic welfare facilities, urgent upgrades were needed. Fire stations in Inverness, Dingwall, Newcraighall and Galashiels were refurbished by Morgan Sindall Construction through the SCAPE Scotland Construction framework, delivered on time, on budget, and without disrupting emergency operations. Believed to be the first of its kind for the service, the design introduced dedicated cleaning and decontamination zones, allowing firefighters to remove toxic fire effluents before entering ‘clean’ areas, setting a benchmark for modern, health-conscious emergency service infrastructure.
