Transforming Leeds City Station into a modern, accessible gateway for sustainable travel.

The Leeds Station Sustainable Travel Gateway scheme is a £46.1 million investment transforming the station’s main entrance and surrounding area, improving capacity, safety, and accessibility for rail passengers. Through the SCAPE Civil Engineering Framework, Balfour Beatty is creating pedestrian-friendly streets, wider steps, new passenger lifts, and modern cycle facilities, including a secure hub with electric charging points. Improved taxi and bus access, upgraded lighting, clearer wayfinding, and landscaping will create a modern, sustainable gateway to the city centre. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
