Transforming Plymouth city centre

Delivering major public realm improvements to transform Plymouth’s City Centre through the SCAPE Construction framework
2022
Plymouth City Centre 1

Morgan Sindall was appointed to deliver major public realm improvements across Plymouth City Centre. Beginning with the £2m restoration of the Grade II-listed Civic Square gardens, the programme has evolved into a £45m transformation, creating a greener, safer, and more welcoming environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Completed on time and within budget, works at Old Town Street, New George Street and Civic Square are now complete, while improvements to Armada Way and Royal Parade continue as part of the wider regeneration.

"The overall works are truly impressive and have made a significant impact on our city centre, breathing new life into what was once a dated area. The new greenery, trees, and ornamental planting have created a vibrant and welcoming space for shoppers, visitors and businesses. With the local business community already making use of the space for their events and activities. I look forward to seeing even more in the future."

Councillor Mark Lowry, Plymouth City Council Cabinet Member responsible for city centre works
