Social value generation through gardening

Triskelion, a multi‑disciplinary collaboration between Arcadis, Sweco and Fairhurst, and SCAPE Scotland Consultancy delivery partner, is creating social value alongside its work on the Westerhill Development Road project, part of East Dunbartonshire Council’s £35m Place and Growth Programme.

As part of this commitment, the team supported the New Roots Gardening Club, which works with young people aged 14 and over who are on the Autistic Spectrum and/or have learning disabilities. Volunteering at the Twechar Community Garden, the team of volunteers helped build a raised flower bed and spent time engaging with the young people who benefit from the community initiative.

"During my placement with Arcadis, I’ve seen how rewarding it is to engage with the communities where we work, and I was delighted to get to spend some time in the garden and meet some of the people involved. We had a brilliant day, and it was interesting to learn about the growing side of things and to see what a positive impact the project has on the young people involved."
