Port of Cromarty Firth Expansion CGI for SCAPE 20 story RJ Mc Leod

The Port of Cromarty Firth expansion was one of the first major projects to be procured through the SCAPE Scotland Utilities Works and Services framework.

The Port of Cromarty Firth in Invergordon is set to become one of the UK’s first ports capable of deploying floating offshore wind turbines at scale, following a £111m expansion. Supported by a £55.7m award from the UK Government’s Floating Offshore Wind Manufacturing Investment Scheme (FLOWMIS), the project represents a major boost to Scotland’s clean energy infrastructure.

The SCAPE Scotland Utilities Works and Services framework was previously created in 2024, following significant input from The Port of Cromarty Firth client. They identified a need within the market for a more effective procurement route to be able to deliver this flagship project. SCAPE Scotland is now working closely with its partner, RJ McLeod to ensure efficient delivery and lasting impact.

“Our £55m investment in Cromarty Firth will help it develop into one of the first UK ports able to deploy floating offshore wind turbines at scale. It’s fantastic to see progress today in rolling out the next stage of this project that will support rapid expansion of new offshore wind in the North Sea. This facility shows how Scotland is reaping the benefits of our clean power mission, and helping to deliver on our Plan for Change by driving growth and creating good, skilled jobs.”

Michael Shanks, Energy Minister

“We are delighted to support the expansion of the Port of Cromarty Firth, a landmark project that will enhance Scotland’s clean energy infrastructure. As one of the first major initiatives under SCAPE Scotland’s Utilities Work and Services framework, this project represents our commitment to providing procurement solutions that facilitate true collaboration and drive real industry benefits."
